PHP Developer
Salary: £34,000 – 38,000
Location: Nottingham (Remote Working Available)
You’re a PHP dev. It’s what you do, and it’s what you love doing.
You love to break things (problems, websites, whatever) down to their simplest forms and figure out ways to make them better- and that’s one of the things that make you a great developer.
But it’s tough to be a PHP dev now. Most of the jobs are just carbon-copies of your last role, and it’s genuinely quite tricky to find something different. Somewhere that you have a bit of freedom, and the opportunities to do things your own way.
So, what if there was a role (and a company) that allowed you to showcase your skills?
A company where you’d not only be on the front lines for their internal systems, but you’d also get to look under the hood for client projects and think about ways to make them go that little bit faster, or maybe even add a little something-something in the form of optimisations, features, and even full-scale changes?
Well, if that’s sounding pretty good right about now, take a look at what’s on offer…
In terms of the company, they’re one of Nottingham’s biggest and brightest full-service agencies.
They don’t do ridiculous corporate meetings and ‘brand guidelines’ that only exist to hamstring their devs and designers- instead, they give you (and your colleagues) all the freedom you need to get the job done in a way that makes both you and the client proud.
After all, they hired you because you were great at what you do, so why would they waste time looking over your shoulder?
The role itself is pretty straightforward. They’re after someone who loves to make things better- whether that’s a system that they use themselves, or it’s something new and shiny for a client (most of whom will have been working with this lot for years).
The vast majority of the role will be backend focused, but if that’s not enough for you and you want to flex your design muscles too, they really don’t mind- if you’re happy, so are they.
In a nutshell they really want someone with a good level of understanding when it comes to payment integration systems, building custom plugins for WordPress (it’s a no-templates-allowed kind of place) and the willingness to test out crazy new ideas from time to time.
If you know your way around the likes of WooCommerce and Shopify, that’s a huge bonus, but they’re not fussy if you don’t know everything there is to know about specific tools- they can teach that.
In return, you’ll get a good salary, flexible working, the option to work from home whenever you fancy, and most importantly you’ll finally be in a role where you feel valued. No more monotony, no more Groundhog Day, and no more carbon-copies.
Just you, your team, and a whole bunch of problems to solve.
Sound good? Well then, what are you waiting for?
Send me your CV. I’ll tell you all about it.
