Job category: Software Development

Back End C# Software Engineer

Role: Back End C# Software Engineer

Location & Working Model: Office in Manchester. Fully remote working model with the only caveat being that if you are needed in the office for a meeting, etc. you are happy to go in, but this happens very sporadically.

Salary: up to £50k plus benefits and bonus.

Are you mad about animals?  Have you been having a woof time of it at work recently?

If you answered ‘yes’ to these two questions (and don’t mind my terrible wordplay!), read on…

I’m working with a household name of an employer that is all about our animal buddies and I’m looking for a backend developer for them, hopefully, that’s you.

Tech-wise, you’ll be ace with C#, .Net 7+, Cosmos DB, SQL, etc.   You’ll work in a cross-functional team of front-end developers, back-end developers, and QA testers, doing some cool things.

Your team is helping to deliver a complete rewrite, from the ground up so it would be greenfield work of the company’s web platform and bringing it back in-house from a 3rd party who created it initially, that is no longer fit for purpose.

They are around a year into their journey with this, and to aid them in getting where they need to be, you’ll predominantly be working on APIs, some integration work, CI/ CD, unit testing, etc.

The people you’ll be working alongside are not only great at what they do, they are good, friendly, animal lovers who laugh with each other. If you ever decide to go into the office, they’ll likely have lots of pets running around!

If this role sounds great to you, apply now, or drop me a line to hear more!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Azure Cloud Engineer

Role: Azure Cloud Engineer

Location: Nottingham, Beeston. Hybrid working model of once per week in the office.

Salary: Up to £55k plus benefits

How would you like to join a friendly, passionate, and supportive team that uses great tech, and collaborates regularly?

Sounds appealing? You’ll want to keep reading, trust me!

I’m working with a lovely Nottingham-based FinTech company in the automotive space, which is looking to expand its dev team with a Senior Developer.

They are a Microsoft house, so use the Microsoft web tech stack, including C#, .Net 7+, Azure, Azure DevOps, WebAPI, SQL Server, Entity Framework, Blazor, etc.

Naturally, they work in an Agile way, so you’ll need to be used to working iteratively, using best practices with things like design patterns and SOLID principles, doing unit testing, and ideally, you’ll have done work with microservices and service bus and worked with CI/ CD pipelines.

They are a small company but have a great structure in place, which means that progression routes are well-established, pay reviews are regular, and you’ll know what you need to do to reach that next level!

They have lots of flexibility around their working hours and location, etc, so you can start work between 7 am-10 am, as long as their core hours of 10 am-3 pm are covered, you’re free to work when you want to, as long as you get what you need to do, they’re happy.

This role will see you doing a wide variety of things, from adding new features to their applications to website work to system development, and more!

If this sounds great to you, apply today or drop me a line to find out more!

Role:  CONTRACT Backend Software Engineer – C# / ASP.NET – (initially 3 months)

Salary:  Between £350 & £480 per day (outside IR35)

Location:  Nottingham – Hybrid – 2 days a week in the office

Are you a software engineering veteran? Can you showcase your battle scars from all the development projects that you’re proud of over the years? Have you previously solved the problem of what many would see as a technical nightmare or impossibility? Do you dream of coding? If so, keep reading because I’ve got a cracking contract role, just for you!

I’m on the hunt for a Senior Software Engineer to join the ranks of a tech powerhouse in Nottingham (you get to grace the office once a week, but WFH royalty for the other four days!). Picture this: you, part of an elite squad of IT mercenaries who will be part of a global transformational project, ready to tackle a colossal project. The mission? Upgrade and merge various product lines (working alongside their existing software team) used by millions worldwide.

There are no mundane BAU tasks here—this squad is all about swooping in, delivering upgrades, and vanishing into the digital shadows. This is all about working on exciting green field projects, building transformational later between platforms and new builds to support the current SaaS platforms. This is predominantly a back-end development contract.

What am I looking for?

  • Proven track record of building software applications from scratch, and experience of moving from monolithic architecture to microservices.
  • Razor sharp skills in ASP.NET core, C# 10 (.NET framework/.NET 6.0), Web APIs, Microsoft SQL Server, and automated testing frameworks
  • Experience in event-based services, API development & integration.
  • Azure Database-related projects are in your blood.

Senior TypeScript Developer

Role:  Senior TypeScript Developer (node, vue, AWS)

Location:  Office in Nottingham, up to fully remote working, pretty much whatever you’d prefer. Some people never go in, and some go in on Mondays and Wednesdays, but it’s not mandatory whatsoever!

Salary:  Around £60-70k plus benefits

You’re a great TypeScript Developer and you’ve got loads of experience in different industries, and you now want to apply that to a super interesting role in a relatively niche sector that is helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the world.

If this sounds like you, read on!

You’ll be working in a cross-functional team of 7 developers, 3 QA, 3 AWS Cloud Engineers, a firmware engineer, a UX chap, and a Project Manager.

Nobody here is siloed, and as such, you’ll be getting stuck across both of their flagship applications. They use full stack TypeScript predominantly, with node on the backend, Vue on the front end, and AWS for cloud infrastructure. They do some 3D modelling so if you’ve used 3.js, that could be really useful, not essential!

They have been moving away from the PHP in their estate for the last few years but there is still a bit of it in there that you’ll have to interact with a little bit. It’s PHP8, so any background in PHP would be very useful.

You’ll have some leadership experience, on projects and doing some mentoring of juniors/ mids, and be a fabulous communicator!

Importantly, you will be an eager beaver when it comes to code reviews and you’ll have a head for innovation: being able to take a project spec and translate it into a consistent application, with user-visual optimisation!

The interview process is 3 stages: a screening call, 90 minute tech test, 30 minute final chat to go through the test.

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

GREENTECH Software Engineer

Role: GREENTECH Software Engineer – TypeScript, Node, React

Location: Office in Cambridge

Salary: Up to £44K plus benefits

Are you looking for a way to use your software development skills to benefit the planet?

How would you feel about telling your friends and family that what you do helps countries and their governments to implement green policies that truly help the planet with things like protecting endangered animals and clean water?

If that sounds like something you would care deeply about, read on- this one’s for you.

You are a full-stack TypeScript developer who is great with Node, React, and Azure. Around 95% of the codebase you will be working with is written in TypeScript.

You have at least a couple of years of experience in a commercial setting and are ready to take what you’ve learned and apply it to something that really matters. Something you believe in. something that will help the planet for decades to come.

In this role, you’ll be working for a UK-based charity, in a very friendly and diverse team of around 30 people, including several senior devs for you to learn from. They have people from all over the world, including Ireland, Spain, France, Cameroon, Italy, etc. This isn’t your normal development setup, you’ll be working alongside biologists and other domain-specific people, in addition to the usual mix of project managers, devs, QA, etc.

You’ll need to be in the Cambridge office twice per month, on the last Tuesday and Wednesday of every month. If you’d like to go in more often than that, you’re welcome to!

The interview process for this role is:

·       1st stage panel interview with 3 people from your prospective team

·       Tech test (1 week to complete)

·       Final stage interview to discuss the test results

If this sounds right up your street, apply now, or drop me a line to find out more!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Full Stack TypeScript Software Engineer

Role: Full Stack TypeScript Software Engineer

Salary: Up to £70K

Location: Fully remote/ remote first.

Would you like to use your tech skills to help reduce the damaging impact of transportation on the climate crisis?   Then this role and company might just well be what you’ve been looking for!

I am looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer, with a specialism in TypeScript (Node) and web development, with Python and Data being strong desirables for the role.

You will be going into a small, but growing, company and team: there are a few developers there currently and around 15-20 people in the company. They are a talented and caring bunch of people from diverse backgrounds, who love what they do and believe strongly in the company’s mission.

Data IS the company’s product. They use it to augment behaviours within the transportation sector to reduce fuel costs and usage: helping the companies they work with to save money and, most importantly, to have a significant, positive impact on the environment.

Due to the nature of the business, having a strong passion for data would be a major advantage! SQL skills around data modelling, CRUD ops, etc would be really useful.

As they are a start-up, they have virtually no tech debt, their projects are greenfield: making this a veritable utopia for developers! They always endeavour to improve a system before building new features on it: something that I’ve not seen lots of other companies do, and that I think speaks volumes about their general approach to their tech – sustainability, efficiency, and scalability are paramount.

To give you an idea of what you can expect to be doing in this role: you will, amongst other things, be tasked with the Design, build, and maintenance of multiple parts of the product, including their customer-facing web app, backend systems, databases, microservices, third-party APIs, and servers in the cloud.

It would be really useful if you’ve worked in a cloud environment previously, with DevOps processes in place: taking part in interacting with the cloud, and using CI/ CD pipelines for deployment through to production. It doesn’t matter which cloud you’ve used before- GCP/ Azure or AWS, but they use AWS, so this would be the most pertinent for this role.

They like to have good debates and technical conversations around best practices and how they can continuously improve how they do things, so if you’re the type of person to have strong views on these kinds of things- with enough humility to have your mind changed and accept where other peoples’ ideas might be a better solution for the problem at hand- then you’ll fit right in!

They all work fully remotely, so you’ll need to be happy and able to comfortably work from home. They do like to socialise though! So, in-person meetup suggestions- perhaps in a hot desk environment or a meeting for a coffee- would be welcomed.

If this sounds right up your street, please get in touch to find out more, or apply today!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Tech Lead

Role:  Tech Lead – TypeScript, AWS

Location:  Office in Leicestershire. Hybrid working model of 1-2 days per week in the office, the rest is working from home.

Salary:  Up to £95k plus bonus and benefits

You’ve got bags of passion and experience not only in creating excellent technical solutions but also in turning teams around.   You take all their bad habits and introduce great ones.  You coach, you mentor, you inspire.

Bringing all of this knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to the fore, this role will challenge you in the best way and be so rewarding.

I am working exclusively with a fabulous tech company that enriches the lives of the people it serves: the incredible people who protect the community.

I am looking for you: someone who is exceptionally skilled with technology and leading teams.  For you, best practice around software engineering and cloud engineering is your de facto way of doing things:  You can turn your hand to whatever problem you encounter because you have the fundamentals down to a tee.

Experience-wise, you have been in teams where they have been using waterfall-y ways of product development, working with monolithic architectures, messy code bases, and unhelpful silos. You have been pivotal in turning those teams around to use iterative, Agile ways of working, especially continuous development (CD) practices, and fostered a collaborative culture of bringing people from product/ development/ QA, etc. together to reduce release lead times and catch potential issues/ bugs before they become problematic.

Most importantly of all, you’ve inspired a culture of curiosity- experimenting, iterating, and improving how your team do things, from finding and fixing bugs, to how they develop and implement new features.

In this role, you’ll be doing this all again in an environment that’s open and hungry for positive change!

You will technically be leading a team of 5 engineers, alongside a Product Manager, and will be very hands-on with around half your time spent on development and architecture, and the other half of your time spent in planning sessions, coaching the team, doing code reviews, building a team and architecture roadmap, etc.

If this sounds right up your street, apply today, or drop me a line to find out more!

Principal Software Developer

Role: Principal Software Developer

Salary: £70-80k plus benefits

Location/ Working Arrangement: Birmingham office, flexible working hours and location. You can go into the office as much or as little as you like. The average, I would say, is 1/ month.

Do you want to work in a company that is big enough to have well-established career paths, small enough to know that all your work makes a real, material difference, and prides itself on not only some of the best tech talent around but a culture to match?

As an experienced and highly capable Software Developer, well-versed in modern software development best practices, cloud services, architecture, and high-quality solutions, this role will see you providing both hands-on software development yourself and technical leadership for the team you’re in, which looks after 6 software products, 2 of which are larger and more notable than the others.

You will be a democratic, force for good within the team: knowing when to take the initiative to instruct and when to listen and encourage those around you. You will make key decisions around several areas, including software architecture, technology choices and solution design, all with the knowledge in mind that achieving software excellence is a group activity, and all ideas are welcomed, from everyone. Successful outcomes are something to be shared and for everyone to be proud of and contribute to.

Tech-wise, you will be competent with the following: C#, Typescript, SQL, .NET, Angular, and a range of Azure platform-as-a-service components. You will also do great tests for every bit of code you write!  You will have no direct reports but will be a hands-on, Senior team member, supporting and working closely alongside the Team Leader.

MS Dynamics CRM 2015 Developer

Role:  MS Dynamics CRM 2015 Developer

Salary:  Up to £65k, + generous pension, 10% bonus and health/life cover

Location:  Based mainly remotely with travel into Birmingham once a week or so.

As an experienced Dynamics Developer, you’re used to working with complexity.  You’ve probably seen companies using Dynamics in a less than optimal way, or customisations that make your head hurt, trying to unpick how someone else has put things together.

The thing is though, you love it.  You know your knowledge and expertise within MS Dynamics can unlock so much value for a company and, as long as they’re willing to listen, there is so much more that you can unlock for them.

This company is part of a group that is one of the UK’s fastest-growing sustainability organisations.  They have grown through acquisition over the last few years and have big plans for the future.

You’ll be working in one of their prized companies – the one with arguably the most growth potential internationally and the most positive culture when it comes to embracing technology.

They have a longstanding developer who has managed their Dynamics needs up until now, but they want another developer to join them as they look to move away from sticking-plaster customisation and development to a more proactive and ambitious embrace of Dynamics CRM as a solution.

They are currently running on CRM 2015, but the plan is to move to Dynamics 365 as soon as is feasible, and you’ll be a driving force in that change.

Therefore, if you are currently working with 365, you will need to have previous experience of working with an on-premise instance of CRM 2015 – however, rest assured, this is not the long term plan.

You will need the usual Microsoft background (.NET / C#) as this is a software development focused role and will ideally be used to working with Business Analysts and DevOps Engineers in a modern Agile environment.

On offer is a base salary up to £65k, + generous pension, 10% bonus and health/life cover.  The company is also one of the most people-centric and friendly working cultures we have had the pleasure of recruiting for in the past 10 years, so you will be respected and looked after – the company enjoys a very low staff turnover rate!
