Role: Software Developer (Solutions Team)
Location: Leicestershire
Package: Up to £50k + 5k market supplement + on-call allowance!
The hardest part is over.
You’ve acquired a strong grasp over C# over your career, making data available has been your bag and you’ve solved some big problems, but now, you’re looking for something a little more: using your skills for a greater good!
You’re in luck here as I’m working on behalf of the Leicestershire Police force to find their next C# Dev!
The Information Systems team is at the forefront of innovation and is after their next Dev who thrives on being empowered.
The team itself features 12 Solution Architects and a Solution Developer. With your addition, the team will be back to 2 Devs strong, supporting the force’s systems and services, as you take over for a Dev who recently moved to a new team within the force.
Life as a Developer within the Solutions team will see you work a 50/50 split between all-things C# development across various in-house developed software systems and services, and making data available for various tools, through your knack for database design, data warehousing, ETL etc.
Although you will be writing new code, a lot of the Dev work will involve maintaining existing code and adding additional features/configurations to a high standard. Some projects on the horizon include a re-platforming of systems and migrating an on-prem data center to the cloud (preferably Azure).
Good practice is key here: Security (secure design), DevOps processes, Testing (Unit Testing/TDD) etc.
The force pride themselves on prioritising thoroughness over speed.
So, what’s the catch?
Digging a bit deeper with the hiring managers, the challenge here will be having good project management skills over your own workload. The force relies upon everyone’s commitment and generally taking responsibility for doing your part.
With this comes a lot of freedom with how you implement solutions. Responsibility can be daunting for some, but for others, the empowerment brings the best out of them!
As the force operates 24/7, there is an on-call requirement around 1 week every 3 months, which the Solutions team picks up. The on-call responsibility would require you to live within an hour’s commute and there will be an extra allowance paid for doing on-call plus paid overtime if called out at any point.
If you’re committed to the cause, commit to hitting apply and you can expect a speedy response and/or a chat to learn more!
