Role: Non-Executive Director (Engineering/Capital Equipment)
Location: Nottingham, East Midlands
Working Arrangement: 2–3 Days/Month – Onsite
Salary: £800 – £1500 per day
A rare opportunity to influence the trajectory of a high-growth, disruptive capital equipment engineering scale-up.
We’re working with a venture-backed advanced engineering business poised for international expansion. They’ve developed unique IP in the high-value capital equipment space and are now seeking a Non-Executive Director with experience scaling disruptive, mechanical engineering-led businesses and helping to drive international growth.
Your background:
You’ve steered disruptive mechanical engineering start-ups /scale-ups through funding rounds, established operational KPIs, guided exec teams through corporate development, and supported growth into international markets (specifically the USA).
You will have proven experience within Low volume, high-value manufacturing, ideally within industrial automation, aerospace/automotive or robotics.
You bring both strategic perspective and practical insight, ideally gained in environments involving complex hardware, robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing systems.
You’ll be well travelled and able to draw on wide-ranging experience within sales, operations and corporate strategy. Whilst you don’t need to be an engineering expert, you will need to understand the challenges a high-value capital equipment scale-up faces when it comes to building operational capability, reducing founder dependency and developing sales strategy (through partnerships, for example).
This role offers:
- Board-level influence in a genuinely groundbreaking business with a founder who already has a strategy but needs a sounding board/mentor
- 2–3 days per month commitment (onsite in the East Midlands) – with potential to increase days if there’s a need
- A chance to have impact in a business with incredibly high-potential and highly committed and engaged team
If you fit the bill above and are looking for an NED or NxC position helping an ambitious, technical founder move from R&D to commercialisation, please apply or contact us directly
We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.
