Salary: £40K

Do you want to be the first of your kind in the business? Looking to pave the way with the wellbeing of staff? If so, this is the role for you.

I happen to be working with a small fintech start-up with around 25 people scattered around the globe.

You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. As they are a small organisation you will be happy to wear a variety of different hats and assist where the business requires it.

Typescript Developer

Role:  Typescript Developer

Salary:  up to £70k plus benefits

Location:  Fully remote. If you’d like to meet up with the team, they have a shared working space that you can go to in Nottingham, but there’s no pressure whatsoever to go into an office.

The company I’m recruiting for is a small, dynamic startup founded in 2020. One co-founder had a vision for a new education venture, brought in a business partner, and they’ve been charging forward ever since!  They now have around 15 people, with a development team mainly based in Hungary. They’re aiming to bring development over to the UK, scale their platform, expand their team, and significantly improve their tech stack and processes. Currently, their environment is built with TypeScript, ReactJS/NextJS, Hasura/GraphQL, TailwindCSS, some Vue.js on the front end, and parts hosted on AWS.

They’re looking to bring someone into the business, starting with this role, who has solid software engineering fundamentals—ideally with a background in TypeScript development. AWS Cloud and DevOps skills are also key to enhancing their deployment and CI/CD pipelines. They want someone who understands software architecture challenges and isn’t afraid to suggest bold changes!

They want to refactor their code, potentially change the development language and toolset used internally, and bring in someone with extensive experience across a broad range of AWS services to fully leverage what AWS has to offer!

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn project needs into actionable plans. Design and develop scalable web apps using TypeScript and NextJS. Integrate backend services with Hasura and GraphQL for smooth data flow. Use TailwindCSS to craft responsive and eye-catching user interfaces. Optimize performance, troubleshoot issues, and thoroughly test to ensure everything runs smoothly. Stay on top of emerging tech and best practices to keep our development cutting-edge and efficient.

You’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Proven skills in TypeScript development for complex web apps are a must. Master ReactJS or NextJS, with a knack for state management and server-side rendering. Be well-versed in Hasura and GraphQL, with hands-on experience in schema design and real-time data. TailwindCSS expertise for rapid prototyping and responsive design is key. Know your way around Git, agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines. Bring top-notch problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to learning. Strong communication skills for seamless collaboration are essential so you can impart your knowledge, and collaborate well, with the rest of the tech team.

They have a shared working space setup in Nottingham City Centre but this role can be fully remote, depending on your preferences. They have fully embraced remote working and so you’ll not be pressured into attending an office!

If this sounds like your kind of challenge, hit apply now to dive into your next role! Want more details before taking the plunge? Reach out to me directly for all the info you need.

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Data Analyst

Role: Data Analyst

Salary: up to £40k – £50k

Location: Fully remote/ remote first. They have no office.

Would you like to use your tech skills to help reduce the damaging impact of transportation on the climate crisis?

Then this role and company might just well be what you’ve been looking for!

I am looking for a Data Analyst who will be joining a growing team of data specialists who have a huge breadth of knowledge between them and are interested in moving forwards with the latest tech and keeping up to date.

Data IS the company’s product. They use it to augment behaviours within the transportation sector to reduce fuel costs and usage; helping the companies they work with to save money and, most importantly, to have a significant, positive impact on the environment.

Due to the nature of the business, having a strong passion for data would be a major advantage! You will transcend into the typical data spectrum, looking at performance management, data science and Machine learning.

You don’t have to have spent years working with data to apply for this role, you maybe a graduate who has a desire to jump on board the data train, however you will have an understanding of big data sets and how they work. One thing that is important though is that you will have used python and some experience of working with the cloud, ideally AWS.

On a day to day basis the main involvement will be with analytics and data science, as well as building dashboards, analysing data and research – as in looking at historical data. There is a demand within the business developing for AI so this is also something that you will be able to get your teeth stuck into.

They all work fully remotely, and don’t have an office, so you’ll need to happy and able to comfortably work from home. They do like to socialise though! So in-person meetup suggestions- perhaps in a hot desk environment or a meeting for a coffee- would be welcomed.

If this sounds right up your street, then please get in touch to find out more, or apply today!

Senior Python Django Developer

Role: Senior Python Django Developer

Location: Fully Remote, No office.

Salary: Up to £65k plus benefits, including a 10% bonus, and 10% employer pension contributions.

Would you like to work in a small, stable, and growing company that values work/life balance and has lots of interesting work?

How about doing a full rewrite of a digital product?

Then look no further!

I am working with a lovely little, fully remote company, that has asked me to find them a cracking Senior Python Django Developer to join their ranks and expand their team, bringing knowledge and expertise to help them deliver on a big workload.

They have a major product that has been built in PHP and Craft CMS, that they want to rebuild, from scratch, using Python and Django, with WagTail, TypeScript and a modern FE framework like React/Vue, hosted on AWS. They would ideally like to go live with this product early next year, so time is of the essence on this project.

You will be joining a small digital team, consisting of a lead developer that is a PHP specialist, and an IT Engineer who is teaching himself Python and Django, so you’ll be their only Python person, at least initially. It would be great if you’re happy and able to teach/ mentor the IT Engineer in the ways of Python! They have a relatively complex AWS setup, so AWS skills would be very useful here!

To excel in this role, you’ll need strong skills in Python, specifically with the Django framework and DRF, as well as proficiency in JavaScript with Vue or React. Experience with AWS, containerization, and a solid understanding of CI/CD and test automation are also essential. Additionally, familiarity with Wagtail, Terraform, and JAMstack technologies like Vite, Astro, or Hugo would be advantageous.

It’s important to note that you will be making the big technical calls on this project, and working fairly autonomously, so working as a sole developer needs to be something you’re comfortable with to have a good time in this role.

We have worked with this company for a while now and having talked to people we’ve placed, who are still there, was really handy- they have said that it’s a company that treats its people like adults, there isn’t any drama, and they are enjoying it there!

Whilst they all work fully remotely, they do like to meet up for socials, roughly every month or two, so you can get in-person social interaction with this role and the full flexibility that fully remote work brings.

If this sounds good to you, hit apply now or drop me a line to find out more!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.

With the company going through a phase of growth, the potential for personal and professional development within the team is limitless.  The team is closely-knit, offering each other support as and when needed.

What they are looking for:

  • Experience with setting up and configuring hardware.
  • Set up and maintain user accounts and permissions through AD.
  • Set up and maintenance on Office 365.

Salary: Up to £32k

Are you looking for a new role where you will be heard? Do you have a passion for IT and providing support? If so, this may be the role for you.

This is a great chance to join a company going through a huge amount of change within the business as they are bringing all IT back in-house, so you will need to be adaptable and assist with the challenges and changes that may arise.

What they are looking for:

  • You will be customer-centric, offer support and work on high-volume tickets.

This isn’t just your standard support role as you will be able to get involved in project work when they arise. Software Integrations Engineer

Role: Software Integrations Engineer

Location: Office in Castle Donnington, remote first working model.

Salary: up to £50k

Do you have a love for Python and AWS?

Want to work in a healthcare company that is helping make communication easier and more efficient?

Are you a whizz at communicating with everyone, from very senior stakeholders, down to non-techie junior devs?

If so, read on!

Working with a small, lovely remote-first company in the HealthTech space, we are after a Software Integrations Engineer to join them and enhance their capabilities to deliver to their customers. This role will see you take on full-time what others in the business have only been able to dedicate some of their time to, and it needs someone’s full attention, really!

Whilst you’ll get quite a bit of variety in this role: you’ll be using a variety of different databases and programming languages, you’ll most certainly be using AWS and their services heavily in this role, so experience of working with AWS is a must. You’ll also be using Python quite heavily, too, so again, experience with it is needed. If you’ve got a wide-reaching range of knowledge across different languages/ technologies, it’ll stand you in good stead here.

Working fully remotely, your only travel requirement will be to go down and meet with an external partner in London, twice per quarter, which will be fully expensed. This leads me nicely onto the soft skills side of what’s needed from you: great communication skills are paramount.

You’ll be confident, enthusiastic and a great listener, too. Talking with senior people won’t phase you, and neither will talking tech with someone without a background in it- you have an open and honest demeanour and know how to ask the right questions!

If this sounds like you, apply now or drop me a line to find out more!

IT Service Delivery Manager

Role: IT Service Delivery Manager

Location: Chorley – 4 days a week in the office

Salary: Up to £47K

Are you well-versed in IT Delivery? Are you able to manage a team and stakeholders without hand-holding? Well then, read on! This may be the role for you.

Do you enjoy managing and mentoring staff, as well as having the capability to grow a team as the business requires? Yes?  Great! You will be managing a small team of 2 and can lead from the front and pitch in to help staff resolve calls as required.

Communication skills are a must as in all honesty the length of time taken to resolve tickets due to growth is an issue. So, building relationships and providing realistic SLAs to the wider business is necessary. This isn’t a slow-paced organisation, and you will thrive in a fast-paced environment as well as having experience working with numerous projects as required.

Experience with ensuring a company is ITIL compliant is a huge advantage, as they are looking to ensure that business is more compliant, and you will be at the forefront of ensuring that this happens. You will be able to develop and review KPIs in alignment with ITIL processes.

MS Office 365 will be your go-to, and if your head is in the Azure cloud, this is a bigger bonus.

However, if you have experience with other cloud providers, this wouldn’t be a deal breaker. Intune, SharePoint and OneDrive will be your go-to tools. You won’t look at a ticket as a short-term fix, you will be looking at the bigger problem to see if this issue has a long-term fix.

Front End Developer

Role: Front End Developer

Location: Fully remote. If you live in/around Nottingham or Leeds, they do have office space if you want to see people IRL.

Salary: Around £50 – £75k, depending on your experience level.

Are you stuck in a bit of a rut?   Does it seem like all you do is firefight, do small bug fixes, and maintain old software?   Would you like a bit more excitement in your working life?

Then look no further, dear Front End Developer reader- I’ve got just the ticket for you!

I’m working with a fabulous little company that is just at the start of its journey.

They have been formed from a corporate cutout, so they have inherited a full estate that is almost completely written in Perl with a front end that is 20 years old, written in JavaScript and JQuery. They have big plans for the road ahead, and it involved a full rewrite- using modern tech and a mainstream framework like react/ vue/ angular, although it’s likely to be React or Vue due to existing preferences within the team- of their technical landscape, nothing has been set in stone technically yet, so everything is to play for!

In this role, you’ll be the first front end developer to join a team of experienced, friendly, and talented people, and will be helping rebuild everything, most likely with TypeScript and a modern front end framework, over the coming years.

So, whilst your JavaScript and jQuery skills will be paramount initially, your ability to move over to TypeScript and React/Vue/Angular will really come to the fore in the medium to long term.

Working side by side with everyone in the company- management included- in a relatively flat structure, where everyone pitches in, you’ll have not only a holistic view of the codebase, commercial goings-on, etc., but you’ll have a voice in how things are done, too.

You’ll be working fully remotely unless you want to go into one of their office spaces in Nottingham or Leeds, and with lots of flex around how and when you work, you’ll have a great time here.

If this sounds great to you, then please apply now or drop me a line to find out more!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.

Head of Data Science

Role:  Lead Data Scientist / Head of Data Science

Location:  Sheffield – once/week

Salary:  Up to £80k

You’ve heard it a zillion times.  Data is the new oil!  Data is king!  AI and Machine Learning is going to revolutionise our industry!

The thing is, so many companies are jumping on the bandwagon because they fear being left behind – not because they’re genuinely excited about taking their business and industry forward.

And because of this, they do data science badly.  Under-resourced teams, a lack of a real data strategy, old, cumbersome technology dragging things down and commercial teams that don’t know or believe in what they’re selling.

Then there’s the other guys/gals.

These are the ones who are building their Data/ML offering from the ground up based on real, tangible outcomes, and a loyal, existing customer base who are eagerly signing up and can’t wait to get going.

This young, but well-established company has a solution that will genuinely revolutionise a global industry and cut emissions in one of the most carbon-intensive sectors out there.

They have a highly skilled existing development team and a small data science squad, but what they’re missing is someone to lead their Data Science function as a senior, strategic and technical leader.

This is why they need you.  You’ll be leading and growing the data science team, working with the senior leaders within the business to define, scope out and develop data science and machine learning systems.

These web applications will be based on predictive models with integrated analytics tools that drive customer decision-making, potentially saving them hundreds of thousands of pounds.

A large part of your role will be related to delivering data science projects, building a high-performing data science function and working with key stakeholders.  However, there *will* be hands-on elements, and it’s vital that you possess credibility as a seasoned senior data scientist as you’ll be the most knowledgeable data scientist in your team.

You’ll have the usual array of data science skills, with extensive SQL and Python experience along with an understanding of a range of Machine Learning models and methods.  You’ll also require expertise in cloud technologies such as Azure Databricks.

You’ll likely either be working as a senior data scientist (with some leadership responsibility) and ready to step up, or you will have previously worked in a similar role.  Either way, you’ll be a likeable, positive team player who would suit working within a fast-moving scale-up culture where collaboration and culture come first.

The role would ideally see you visiting the office in Sheffield (close to the M1) once a week, with a salary in the region of £80k and share options (In the next 12 months they expect to be able to add further benefits such as healthcare, car scheme etc.)

This role is exclusive to Rebel, so please feel free to drop us a line to find out more before applying or click away and apply for a guaranteed personal reply!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

The tech stack you’ll use is:

C# .NET

GIS Technical Officer

Role:  GIS Technical Officer

Location:  Cambridge – twice a week

Salary:  Circa £32K

Got a passion for conservation? Are you someone who wants to work towards keeping natural resources safe, and concern yourself with the manmade plastics and waste that constantly threaten our planet? How would you like to collaborate with others who have the same passion for biodiversity in a consorted effort to make a change?

I’m currently with an organisation that puts the natural world at the heart of its cause. They’ve done so much as a body to shed light on the major crises that attack the natural world and work twice as hard to preserve resources and prevent damage and loss from the forest to the ocean. They’re currently hiring for a GIS Technical Officer to champion Geospatial data to develop and maintain databases that track and indicate endangered species.

As a Technical Officer, you’ll be providing ideas and insight into various GIS-related projects, using cutting-edge tools to drive forward successful efforts to reinforce crucial data needed to sustain biodiversity.  You’ll report to a senior Technical Officer who will show you the ropes and guide you when needed, but this role will allow you to really step into a professional environment and get involved with responsibilities that have a huge impact on the world around you!

If you’re a Geography grad and have used ArcGIS throughout your degree, you’d be a good contender for sure. Scripting is also a big part of this role, so basic knowledge of Python, SQL and R will be required to be suggested for the position. If you understand data, Geospatial data, data mapping etc, then please do consider yourself a potential prospect for the position!

The role is based in Cambridge, and you’ll be looking at coming in twice a week with flexible hybrid working opportunities.

The salary is around the £32K mark depending on your background and experience.

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.
