Software Test Engineer – QA Tester

Role:  Software Test Engineer/QA Tester

Location: Nottingham

Working Arrangement:  2 days a week

Salary:  Up to £43k depending on experience

We’re looking for a curious and detail-oriented Software Test Engineer who enjoys ensuring a great digital experience and takes pride in delivering high-quality software. In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative delivery team working across websites, mobile apps, desktop applications, and APIs, helping ensure that everything released to users performs reliably and meets high standards.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from refining requirements and planning tests to automating checks and improving how the team approaches quality. If you enjoy combining hands-on testing with automation and continuous improvement, this role will give you the space to develop your skills while making a real impact on the products you support.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll design, execute, and maintain both functional and non-functional tests to validate new features and existing functionality across multiple platforms. A key part of your role will involve regression testing to ensure that updates don’t impact existing behaviour and that releases remain stable and reliable.

You’ll also collaborate closely with other testers and developers, reviewing testing activities and contributing to shared quality practices across the team. Your input will help strengthen testing coverage and improve how the team approaches validation.

Automation will form an important part of the role. You’ll create and maintain front-end and API automation scripts using a Playwright (TypeScript) framework, as well as maintain JavaScript-based API tests in a shared Postman environment. Alongside this, you’ll keep testing documentation up to date and ensure that testing activities follow established team and project processes.

As part of an Agile delivery team, you’ll take part in refinement sessions, sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives, contributing your testing perspective to help shape better solutions. You’ll work closely with developers, testers, and stakeholders, ensuring that quality, security, and accessibility standards are built into everything the team delivers.

The role also offers opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement, both individually and as a team, helping refine testing approaches, tools, and workflows over time.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring hands-on experience in software testing along with a strong understanding of how quality fits into modern development practices. You should be comfortable working across web browsers, APIs, and database-backed systems, and familiar with tools used to investigate issues and validate behaviour.

Experience working with API testing tools such as Postman, browser developer tools, and common productivity tools such as Microsoft Office will be important. A good understanding of database concepts and the ability to investigate issues using integrated browser development tools will also support your work.

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.

Working Arrangement:  2 days a week in the office.

Salary:  Up to £43k depending on experience

We’re looking for a detail-oriented QA Tester who is passionate about delivering high-quality software and enjoys working closely with developers and stakeholders to ensure products perform reliably across multiple platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for writing, executing, and maintaining both functional and non-functional test cases covering new and existing functionality across web, mobile, desktop applications, and APIs. You will carry out thorough regression testing to ensure that new changes do not impact existing features, while also reviewing testing activities and plans created by colleagues to maintain high standards across the team.

You will play an active role in building and maintaining test automation, creating front-end and API automation scripts using a Playwright framework with TypeScript. You will also develop and maintain JavaScript-based API automation within a shared Postman environment. Alongside this, you will produce and maintain clear testing documentation and follow established team and project processes while helping identify improvements to testing practices. Awareness of web accessibility standards, including WCAG guidelines, knowledge of software security principles and best practices, familiarity with AI tools and prompt-based workflows, experience testing native mobile applications, and an understanding of load and performance testing methodologies would also be valuable.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a busy, fast-moving tech environment and enjoys working as part of a collaborative and supportive team. The ideal person will be curious, motivated, and naturally interested in understanding how systems work. You will be comfortable adapting to change, remain calm under pressure, and be eager to continue learning and growing within your role. A positive, approachable personality is key, along with the confidence to contribute in team discussions while also listening and learning from others.

You will take pride in producing high-quality work, paying close attention to detail and following processes carefully while remaining open to new ideas and improvements. Being reliable, consistent, and able to take direction when needed will help you succeed, while also bringing your own ideas and creative thinking to problem-solving and process improvements.
