Lead DevSecOps Engineer

Role: Lead DevSecOps Engineer

Location:  Nottingham

Working Arrangement: Hybrid working policy of twice per week in the office, ideally, or remote, depending on how far away you live

Salary: Up to £70k plus benefits

You’re a Senior DevOps/DevSecOps Engineer who has come from an infrastructure background, seeing the transition from traditional infrastructure and networking to more cloud-based solutions. You are someone who loves to automate mundane tasks, make scalable, highly available, and robust solutions, and ensure whatever you’re working on is secure, through things like vulnerability scanning, threat analysis, and patching, which is high on your priority list.

Whilst you love new shiny tech and always make a point of having a play around with the latest and greatest, you are a pragmatic person who knows that the best tool for the job might not be the latest buzzword- you know that sometimes you can’t beat the tried and tested methods!

Tech-wise, you can’t get enough of Kubernetes, you are a big Linux fan, and have been using a host of Cloud and DevOps tools like Helm, Ansible, and AWS/GCP/OCI/Azure etc, for some time and, more recently have added in some Terraform, GitOps and Argo CD to your arsenal, and you have a great time playing around and seeing what you can do with them. You probably run a home server and have a whale of a time building home automations, with a nerdy project on the go to test out some of the myriad new technologies out there!

If this describes you, read on: this is your next role!

In this role, you’ll be a senior member of a platform team, which is made up of a mix of differing levels of engineers who will surely benefit from your technical DevOps knowledge- you’ll be the sole DevOps person in the company so you’ll be driving the company’s DevOps tech strategy and direction, but please note that there is no management as part of this role.

Being fully hands-on keyboard, you will be making key improvements to the security and efficiency of a just-released product and, further down the line, there’s scope for you to get involved in R&D and Proof of Concept (POC) projects.

You’ll be using the tech mentioned above- Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI, etc.

Whilst you’ll use AWS and potentially OCI/GCP/Azure for some parts of your role, you’ll also be working with private cloud and on-prem models, too, due to the nature of the sensitive work they do and the customers they serve.

Working here will see you working on some very cool products that help the defence, government, and other critical infrastructure sectors to do their important work without interference from bad actors. Due to the nature of what you’ll be making, you’ll need to be eligible and willing to obtain SC clearance.

If this sounds like what you’ve been looking for, please apply now or get in touch to find out more!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.

SecOps Lead

Role: Security Operations Lead

Location: Nottingham City Centre Office with a flexible hybrid working model of around once per week or two in the office.

Salary: Up to £75k plus benefits

You are practical; you love being hands-on technically and creating cool solutions that help people.

You might be described as a little paranoid! This is only because are always thinking about how secure your technical estate is and what can be done to improve it.

You are great with people; you have a natural affinity for leadership, knowing how to get the best out of people, managing external teams, and liaising with ease around other departments to share knowledge, and respectfully debate proposed technical solutions with great outcomes.

If the above seems to describe you, then read on, this could be the one!

I am working with a brilliant Nottingham-based company that is large but feels small and tight-knit. I’m looking for a SecOps Lead for them and I’m hoping that’s you.

In a nutshell, what I’m after is someone happy being hands-on, who started in Infrastructure, going on work in Security, ideally in a DevSecOps capacity/ environment, with Azure Cloud and DevOps experience with tooling such as Terraform, AKS, ansible, etc. and with leadership experience, ideally including managing an offshore team.

This role will see you working in a hands-on capacity, liaising heavily with the information security, compliance, and development teams to help you design, deliver, and own excellent technical solutions, including building out tooling, that adheres to best practices set out by the information security and compliance teams- across their infrastructure and application platforms which span on-premises and the Azure cloud.

You will make sure that their platforms are secure and create a roadmap for their DevSecOps strategy that will ensure good growth and scalability for their platforms. You will be expected to keep up with current technological trends to be able to advise on new products, services, and other technologies, and implement them into the roadmap, so it’s always up-to-date and fit for purpose.

Taking the lead on cyber security incidents, you’ll ensure that monitoring and alerting capabilities across their infrastructure and application estate are well-set up to identify and remediate any potentially harmful or suspicious behaviour. Further, you’ll hold regular workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions on cyber security best practices to disseminate this knowledge throughout the company to encourage prevention and awareness – prevention is always better than cure!

Your leadership experience will stand you in good stead here- you will be leading one person directly under your charge, and an external SOC (Security Operations Centre), initially. You will then build out a team around you further down the line.

If this sounds right up your street, get in touch today or drop me a line to find out more about it!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.
