Mid-Lead JavaScript Web Developer – React/ Node Full Time

Role(s): Mid-Lead JavaScript Web Developer (React/ Node)

Location/ working arrangement: Nottingham City Centre/ Hybrid Working Model (2-3 days remote working per week, depending on your preferences)

Salary: Mid-level is up to £60k, Senior/ Lead is up to £70k. Both come with a bonus of ~£3-5k per year, and outstanding benefits.

I am recruiting for a well-known, established company- it’s a large, international one (HQ in US) in a regulated environment, in the FinTech industry. For a large company, they have done very well in making the team culture and the physical office feel modern, fun, and somewhere you want to be.

I mentioned the regulated environment early on as this has implication on how you do your work here; there are standards and regulations that you need to meet for compliance reasons, so if this isn’t something you’re interested in, it’s probably not right for you.

Like a lot of companies, everyone in the business is working pretty much fully remotely right now, but they have plan for the next few months to transition to a hybrid working model- the company-wide policy is 3 days per week in the office, but this can be amended at the discretion of your manager, and for these roles, they can be flexible up to 2 days in the office per week. You will need to be local(ish) to the East Mids for this reason, and happy to go into the office.

Their office is very impressive; they have so many facilities there, it’s crazy! To name a few; a big gym, library, auditoriums, break out rooms, games rooms, heavily subsidised canteen with amazing food, etc.

I’m looking for 6 Engineers to join them, and ideally, from a technical perspective, you will have the fundamentals of Software Engineering down (stuff that encourages best practice, like TDD, SOLID, Design Patterns, etc. are particularly important to them) you’ll be a well-rounded Developer, used to working in an Agile environment, who likes to get stuck into a variety of different projects, using a range of tech/ tools/ languages to deliver a solution.

There is a mix of BAU, compliance, and product work underway/ in the pipeline that uses a mix of react, node, JavaScript, etc. and they use AWS heavily for a host of things.

So, I need someone who isn’t rigid when it comes to which technology to use (e.g. someone who will only do react work and nothing else) as they can’t guarantee specific types of work to always come their way. Whilst you don’t need to have direct AWS experience per se, you will need to understand how a cloud environment works, how to deploy via the cloud, etc. if only conceptually.

Team size is around 10-15 people, and they have some of the best Engineers around that you can learn from, bounce ideas off of, challenge, and work with. Career progression here is great; you can move up the Manager track or Individual Contributor route, and get recognition from your team.

They have regular fun team activities (both physical and remote) for you to get to know your team better, and 10% time for you to do any personal development you want.
