As Head of Software Engineering with this fast-growing, highly ambitious mid-sized tech business, your role will be critical to every ambition the company has.
You’re the person that holds it all together. Yes, you have amazing engineering managers in your team, but their day-to-day life is about keeping the developers happy and keeping the work flowing. Your role is all about the bigger picture.
You’ll drive the roadmap, own the projects, define the culture, tooling and people needed to help the company scale fast.
You’ll work with the CTO, Head of Product, and others to drive innovation and transformation, the most critical of which is migrating the tech stack from on-prem to Cloud.
As for you, you’ll look to be part of something truly transformational, joining a company at the most ambitious time in their history with record investment within software engineering and a clear idea of where they want to be and
You’ll have cut your teeth as a senior software development leader within a private equity-backed SaaS business, leading distributed engineering teams, and embedding Agile best practices such as CI/CD and TDD/BDD.
You’ll ideally have seen the dynamics of previous mergers and acquisitions, of consolidating platforms, teams, and cultures across distributed development teams. You’ll know how to lead, engage, and inspire whilst ongoing change is a constant feature of the road ahead.
Ideally, you’ll still be technical, having come from a hands-on background, but as this role is largely leadership focused, credibility and vision is the key, not being able to cut code.
The company are largely a Microsoft based setup so a background of engineering leadership with .NET / Azure-based architectures would be great, though anyone from a Java background with knowledge of distributed (micro-services) and cloud architecture (IaaS and PaaS) would still be considered.
The role can be offered on a largely remote basis as long as you can travel into London/The Midlands a couple of times a month on average.
On offer is a basic salary between £120k – £150k + healthcare, bonus and equity that may be realised in fairly short timescales.
